Auschwitz gates
We walked through this place of incredible evil. The pictures speak for themselves. A quote from the website mentioned on the previous page reads, "Forever let this place be a cry of despair and a warning to humanity, where the Nazis murdered about one and a half million men, women and children, mainly Jews from various countries of Europe."

The politics of history: After WWII the Auschwitz information presented by the Communist regime seldom mentioned the Jews who were killed here. Later, in post-Communist Poland (i.e. the past 12-13 years), the government has officially started to acknowledge that, in addition to the many Poles, Gypsies, homosexuals and invalids who were imprisoned and executed here, the overwhelming majority of those murdered at Auschwitz and Birkenau were Jews.
