On the left is a funicular that was originally built in 1870 for employees of the palace. (We tried to take the ride one evening, but got there just after it closed.)

The Chain Bridge - Budapest

The Chain Bridge, originally built in 1849, was the first permanent bridge to cross the Danube. Destroyed by the Nazis during WWII, it was reopened in 1949.
