Presidential Palace (Palac Namiestnikowski)
This palace was built in the 17th century by the Radziwill family. It functioned
as offices for the czarist occupiers in the 19th century. Frederic Chopin
performed his first concert here. The Warsaw Pact was signed here in 1955
and it is currently the official residence of Poland's president. |

snack time on the Royal Route
We're sitting outside of the Blikle Cafe Nowy Swiat 33. The oldest cake shop
in the city, open since 1869, is famous for its doughnuts (paczki) - which
we are sampling here as we take a break from our stroll along the Royal Route.
