Sanibel Christmas

For Christmas break in 2006 Kim and I went to Florida where Katie was working at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation Of Wildlife.  Louise organized the trip for us so she and Bob were there the same time we were.  Michael, Sandra, and Sunny visited as well, overlapping our visit by a couple days at the end.

Kim poses for a picture just outside the condo we stayed in.

Pool and Beach
This is basically the view from our condo. Paths from the back of the building led right onto the beach.

Christmas Eve Decorating
Katie's crew from C.R.O.W. came over for dinner and cookie decorating. Kim and I made tacos for dinner.

Cookies
The fruit of their labor.

Katie & Kim
We had a couple days of clouds and some rain, but we got out on bikes to ride around the Ding Darling wildlife refuge.

Baby Raccoons!
We saw a mom raccoon leading her kids around.

Anhinga
Further along the Ding Darling trail we saw an anhinga perched by the water.

Ibis
We came across a flock of ibis, some of which we scared away while trying to photograph.

More Ibis!
Here's a couple that stayed around long enough for another picture.

Even More Ibis!
Perhaps the same flock relocating? We scared them away again as we approached.

Kim near the lighthouse
On a sunnier, slightly cooler day we drove to the easternmost part of Sanibel to walk around the lighthouse.

Coast & Ft Myers
Here's a picture of the beach with Ft. Myers in the distance.

Here I am posing with a tree.

Ugly Lighthouse
Just like in Marblehead!
