Slottet, the Royal Palace. Unlike in Stockholm and Copenhagen, the Palace was built in a large open area of land. This made it much easier to photograph.
A closer look - the statue is of Karl Johan, the then king of Sweden & Norway at the time the palace was built.
As I walked around the castle (it isn't open to the public), I saw these guards and presumed there was some changing of the guards under way or something.
Unfortunately, they all just marched back inside, perhaps to the changing room of the guards.
The palace grounds (a park open the public) were quite spacious. There were a lot of people strolling around, having a picnic, or even just sun bathing.
One last view of the palace before heading on down Karl Johans Gate.
Jeff and Wally hang out on the steps of the Oslo train station, waiting for the train up to Myrdal.
Looking out the train's dirty window, you get a glimpse of the land outside of Oslo. It all looked very fertile with rolling hills and running water everywhere.
Speaking of rolling hills, there's some now.
As we got further north, things became more hilly and we saw a lot of these towns built along the water and up a hillside.
