The further north we went, the more rough the landscape became. We started seeing more and more snow, but it was just leftover from winter - it wasn't too cold.
The terrain was sometimes very barren...
... but there were still large green areas too. I don't know what caused this combination of fertile and sterile land.

As we got up towards Myrdal we were passing through elevations of up to 1.2km. The terrain was definately getting more mountainous.
After reaching Myrdal, we darted over to the other side of the train platform to catch the Flåmsbana (the Flam Railway). The scenary was very pretty along here.
The descent from Myrdal to Flam took us down from 863 meters above sea level to 2 meters above sea level. The entire area was filled with these beautiful formations. The trick was actually snapping a picture at the right time.

Normally the Flåmsbana stops here for a view of the waterfall, but the train was behind schedule so we kept going.
Sadly with the lights on in the train, it was hard to avoid getting reflections in my pictures. We passed a number of these small farms/villages on the way down.
The further down we went, the more the mountains loomed above us. With all the water flowing and the lower elevation, the scenary was becoming much more lush.

Another inspiring view...
