In the morning, we took a ferry over to
Djurgården. This was a cruise ship anchored in the harbor. |
This picture is looking back at Gamla Stan from the
ferry. |
These are some buildings on the mainland, also seen
from the ferry. |
Another view of Gamla Stan. Our hotel is the yellow
one with the black roof (half-way between the two ships). |

This tower, on Skeppsholmen, always flies the Swedish
flag. This is the "official" flag and if Sweden were conquered, it
would be replaced. Karin told us that a few years ago, some people
managed to break in and replace it with a Norwegian flag, causing quite
an uproar, and an embassment for the army which has the duty of
protecting it. |
Approaching Djurgarden, we got a nice view of the Vasa
museum. The Vasa houses a 17th centure warship that was lost under the
Baltic Sea for 333 years. |

Big Shark! |

When we arrived at Djurgården we walked over to
Skansen. Karin had free passes for us since she does folk dancing
there. Karin and Magnus are in under the entryway. |
In the entry to Skansken, there's a little model to
show you the grounds. |
There are many old houses that have been moved here, as
well as recreations of old Swedish buildings and crafts. |
